SAIC BFA 2012

Every graduating student in SAIC was expected to exhibit work as part of SAIC's Spring Undergraduate Exhibition. Instead of creating an artwork to showcase, I decided to use the space and open it up to audience participation. This piece was based on my experience spending lots of time in museums and galleries, where we often times hear conversations such as "This is interesting, I quite like it." or "I don't get it. It's shit."

In our everyday lives, we unconsciously make judgements about things around us. This piece aims to change perception and distort the way audience view the entire exhibition. They are prompt to pick their favourites and come up with a reason why. It was interesting to find out how audience interpretation differ from the artist intention.

Responses are published on saicbfa2012.tumblr.com in conjunction with the piece.
